I came back to Kyiv yesterday morning, after a short Erasmus+ trip to Warsaw and Vienna. Among other things, I gave a talk on war, communication, and artificial intelligence to doctoral students at the Department of Sociology, University of Vienna. It was an unexpected and challenging topic, but I genuinely loved the result. I planned to share it here today - after some much-needed sleep at home.

I didn’t sleep, though - just like everyone else in Kyiv, I suppose. It was the most brutal attack I can remember, and a long one. It looks like everyone watched Usyk-Verhoeven fight in shelters, while I had time to read Fukuyama’s 1989 “The End of History?” alongside a couple of papers on resilience (what do you guys know about resilience, anyway?)

It feels vulgar and inappropriate to publish my European talks on war when war is raging right here and now, and my beloved Kyiv - ruined, shrouded in smoke, and awash in blood - is counting its dead. Maybe next time. We’re still alive, after all.
