I often feel guilty scrolling my Facebook feed. Getting grants, doing research, visiting a rope park last weekend. All these seem inappropriate and even immoral after 1500 days of the full-scale war. This guilt has become a constant background of our life here in Ukraine. We have learnt to live with it, like we live with the air raid sirens. I feel this guilt even now, after a massive night attack. I lived through it together with my city and my country, but I was lucky enough to survive while many were not.
703 missiles - drones, cruise missiles, ballistics. 667 were shot down by air defense systems, yet even the remaining ones were enough to cause destruction. 4 killed and almost 60 injured in Kyiv alone; even more than that in Dnipro, Odesa, and Kharkiv. Destroyed buildings. Fires. Black smoke has been shrouding the city since dawn. Air quality indicators are in the red-to-purple zone.
Meanwhile, spring is coming, no matter what - indifferent and unstoppable. My lovely Channel is getting dressed in green and smells of apricot blossoms. And I am happy-guilty about that too.
